In this week’s Tuesday Treasures, I’ve taken a series of photos last Saturday in the garden, when we had a bright sunny day. I’m surprised at just how many flowers are still flowering amongst the seed heads, now that winter is properly getting going. That said, it was a mild November – if very rainy…
I’m used to flowers year round here in California, but I’m impressed at how many flowering plants you have in December. Lovely😁
Thank you, Tammy. I’m used to seeing the rosemary and mahonia in flower, but it’s way too early for the catkins to be starting and as for the summer bedding still doing it’s stuff… Climate change is definitely a thing!
Just beautiful! It amazes me that tender shoots are still sprouting as the winter comes.
You’re right, Wanda. But I also think it goes to show just how very mild it’s been so far. Sadly, looking at the forecast, I think it’s all about to come to an abrupt end!
To see such colors – particularly the vibrant orange of those flowers – in this season is a priceless gift!
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thank you, Maddalena – I got quite a shock when I had a wander around the garden and saw those intrepid flowers – because from my kitchen window, I’d assumed I was looking at bright orange autumn leaves!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Sharon:))
What is the plant in the very top picture? I have never seen one before. At least I don’t think I have.

It’s a phormium – and that’s the seedhead… It flowers in May/June and fills the garden with a marvellous perfume like lillies. But I also think the seedhead looks beautiful, which is why I snapped it:))
I love the flowerhead and seed heads on plants at this time of the year, some of them are things of beauty all by themselves.
Lynn 😀
Yes! I found it fascinating to discover the seedheads alongside so many things that are still flowering – and it’s just bizarre that the catkins are appearing so very early!
So pretty. I love the orange flowers and the top photo.
Thank you, Jennie:). I was surprised to see just how much is still going on in the garden!
You’re welcome, Sarah. A lovely surprise for you.
It certainly was:))
Thanks for sharing these pictures and a positive message. Have a lovely weekend.
You’re very welcome, Roberta. I’m finding this situation means I need all the positivity I can get:))
