Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by The Purple Booker.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This is my choice of the day:
Warrior – Book 1 of the Doppleganger series by Marie Brennan
67% The ride was crazy. Miryo wondered whether being a Hunter was always like this – skulking about, climbing through windows, and leaving town in the dead of night. And whether being an Air witch was anything like it. If so, her life was going to be very hard on the nerves.
BLURB: When a witch is born, a doppelganger is created. For the witch to master her powers, the twin must be killed. But what happens when the doppelganger survives?
Mirage, a bounty hunter, lives by her wits and lethal fighting skills. She always gets her mark. But her new mission will take her into the shadowy world of witches, where her strength may not be a match against powerful magic.
Miryo is a witch who has just failed her initiation test. She now knows that there is someone in the world who looks like her, who is her: Mirage. To control her powers and become a full witch, Miryo has only one choice: to hunt the hunter and destroy her.
I’m thoroughly enjoying this interesting premise. The alternate viewpoints between Mirage and Miryo works really well and the story is racketing along at nice clip with a well depicted world, strong rules for the magic and lots of lovely, layered infighting. What’s not to love?
This sounds like a fascinating idea! On another note, I emailed you a few days ago that you are one of my SciFiMonth winners (and Tweeted too!) but I haven’t heard back from you.
It is… And – I’m SO sorry. Himself has fessed up that he deleted a pile of my emails – and probably zapped this one, thinking it was a scam…
Sounds tempting! Great cover, too. Here’s mine: “BIG LIES IN A SMALL TOWN”
Yes – it is a wonderful premise and I’m thoroughly enjoying it, Laurel.
This sounds great – I will go and look this one up
Lynn 😀
I was suffering from Lady Trent withdrawal symptoms – so went looking and discovered that Himself had treated us to this one:)). The man is a saint…
Interesting premise. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! My Teaser
Thank you, Laura – yes, this one so far has pulled me right in…
Really different–but in a good way! My Tuesday Teaser can be found at http://powerfulwomenrreraders.wordprress.com
Yes – it is an interestingly different idea, isn’t it, Rae? Thank you for swinging by!

I’ve tried using the link, Rae – and it isn’t working…

This book sounds interesting and is something that I would enjoy, I think.
My teaser this week: https://collinesblog.com/2019/12/10/teaser-tuesday-pride-and-prejudice-and-mistletoe/
If you get a chance, Colline, do go for it – it’s a well written, entertaining adventure.
What a totally fascinating premise! I can’t wait for your review on this one 🙂
Yes! I am really enjoying this one and will definitely be reviewing it in due course.
I’m finding the main characters very intriguing here. A witch and a bounty hunter is not a combo I would have necessarily ever considered fitting into the same story. Sounds like it’s working well though.
Yes, it works very well Suzanne. If you’re in the mood for a fantasy with a difference, then I can recommend this one:)
Ooo, I do like that premise. It’s concise, yet promises a LOT of potential paths into the grey nebulous area of what truly is heroic or villainous.
Oh yes – this was a really cool premise, Jean. And I found the final twist really unexpected. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the story…
