Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week’s Can’t-Wait offering – Bookshops & Bonedust – prequel to Legends and Latte series by Travis Baldree – release date – 7th November, 2023

BLURB: Viv’s career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam’s Ravens isn’t going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she’s packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she’ll never be able to return to it.
What’s a thwarted soldier of fortune to do?
Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn’t possibly imagine.
Still, adventure isn’t all that far away. A suspicious traveler in gray, a gnome with a chip on her shoulder, a summer fling, and an improbable number of skeletons prove Murk to be more eventful than Viv could have ever expected.
I’ve seen this one around – and liked the look of it. Apart from anything else, when T. Kingfisher describes it as ‘a warm hug of a book’ I definitely want to check it out. I haven’t read this series, so I’m looking forward to starting in the right place for a change😊.
I’m going to be reading this too, and just like you, I haven’t read the first book. Hopefully the prequel is the right place to start😁
That’s what I’m hoping, Tammy:)). Though as a confirmed mid-series crasher – I’m just smugly pleased with myself that it isn’t book 9. I’ve got form!!
I haven’t read Legends & Lattes yet (although I really want to) but since this is a prequel I could easily read this first. I really like the sound of these books!
I think they sound wonderful, especially as I’m on the hunt for something full of adventure, but with a bit of humour along the way, too!
It’s on my TBR too. I love that a bookshop is included in the plot. I did read Legends and Lattes and enjoyed it. Was surprised that the second book is a prequel, but still looking forward to it.
That’s great, Laura – we can compare notes…
I haven’t read the first book either, but maybe this prequel would be a good place to start. The series sounds great! 🙂
Thank you, Ashley – I’m looking forward to this one:).
Oh I love a book set in a bookshop! I hope that you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it Sarah!
This sounds like a wonderful series, Sarah. I hope you enjoy it! Have a wonderful weekend ☕📚🍁🧡
Thank you, Jody:)).
I like the sound of this book, and T. Kingfisher’s praise makes it even more intriguing.
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
You’re welcome, Maddalena:)).
I just finished the first book in this series and immediately requested this one. It’s the first cozy series I’ve read in a while and I’m really enjoying it so far.
It’s a fun series, isn’t it? I’m so glad you enjoyed the first book and like it enough to want to read more:)).
I’m looking forward to reading this! I really enjoyed the first one, and I am excited for hopefully another cozy fantasy read in this one.
I’ve just finished this one and loved it:)). I’ll certainly be tracking down Legends and Lattes.
