Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This is my choice of the day:
Deceptions – Book 3 of the Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong
52%: But they weren’t “that” sort of sound at all, simply them whispering and laughing, their voices too low for him even to make out what they were saying. That was enough, those whispers and laughs pounding through his skull like red-hot spikes.
BLURB:
TRUST NO ONE. Olivia Jones is desperate for the truth. The daughter of convicted serial killers, she has begun to suspect that her parents are innocent of their crimes. But who can she trust in a world where betrayal and deception hide in every shadow.
RISK EVERYTHING. Liv does have one secret weapon: a mysterious sixth sense that helps her to anticipate danger. The trouble is, this rare power comes with its own risks. There are dark forces that ant to exploit Liv’s talents – and will stop at nothing to win her to their side.
FACE THE TRUTH. Now Liv must decide, before it’s too late. Who does she love? Who is really on her side? And can she save herself without burning down everything that matters most?
I’d just finished reading an apocalyptic near-future offering featuring an environmental holocaust, so needed something a lot lighter, while flicking through my TBR list, this seemed to tick the box. I’ve read and enjoyed the other two books in the series – see my review of Omens here – and have been once more, whisked into Olivia’s world of improbable, paranormal events thousands of miles away. Thank goodness!
This sounds really exciting! Hope you’re enjoying it 😀
Yes, I am enjoying it:). It is certainly far less depressing than my previous read!
Oh dear! Yes I always find it a plus when my books don’t depress me! 😛
The previous book was rather a grim read!
I could have sworn I’d read something by Kelley Armstrong but after a quick look on Amazon possibly not. The blurb definitely makes it sound like my kind of book.
Oh, it’s a great series, but do start with Omens, which I absolutely loved.
I’ve been enjoying this series too. The teaser on my adult blog comes from I Dream of Dragons by Ashlyn Chase. Happy reading!
Thank you for swinging by:). I like the sound of this one…
A thriller, I suppose. Mine is close to that, but with a spy/historical component: http://earthianhivemind.net/2016/03/29/teaser-tuesday-march-29/
Well… it’s a bit more complicated – it has more of an urban fantasy vibe with a dollop of romance in there. But Armstrong does spin a good whodunnit story.
Sounds exciting! I can’t wait to read that one 🙂 I love Kelley Armstrong’s writing.
Here is my teaser.
This is a lighter book? LOL. I’m curious, now, so thanks for sharing. Enjoy! Here’s mine: “MOST WANTED”
I have books 1 and 2 in this series but have not gotten to 2 yet. I really like Kelley Armstrong, so I’m looking forward to being able to read 2 and this one in the next few months. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Laura:). So far, so good! Though as it is a murder mystery – it has to have a satisfying solution to REALLY work.
This one sounds so intense! I have a few of Kelly Armstrong’s books on my bookshelf and I am itching to read them. She sounds like an amazing story teller! ❤
Oh she is… She certainly was a trailblazer with her Otherworld series – I still think BITTEN is one of the best books in the genre and OMENS is a really good book. I did enjoy DECEPTIONS, but it did have a mid-series feel about it.
