Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week’s Can’t-Wait offering – We Dream of Gods – Book 4 of The Reborn Empire by Devin Madson – release date 23rd March, 2023

BLURB:
THERE ARE NO GODS. ONLY MEN.
Betrayed by her closest allies, Empress Miko Ts’ai is thrust from ruler to pawn. But she won’t suffer the whims of men. A string of dangerous gambles could win Miko her empire for good, but to take back the throne, she must become everything her ancestors failed to be.
Rah e’Torin leads a herd again. Now he seeks to honor a promise he made a lifetime ago-to safely bring his Swords home. Yet Rah’s loyalty to the past may be his ultimate undoing.
Cassandra Marius is lost. Ensnared by memories that aren’t her own, Cass must decide who she really is, but the answer lies beyond one final confrontation with Leo Villius.
And trapped in the heart of the Chiltaen army, Dishiva e’Jaroven is handed unexpected power. The dream of a new homeland is within her grasp – if she risks everything and trusts her former enemies.
I came to this riveting series late, but was very pleased to have done so – see my review of We Cry For Blood. So when I saw this offering pop up on Netgalley, I was delighted to get hold of a copy, as this one has stayed with me. Has anyone else read it, yet?
I don’t read much fantasy but a Japanese empress may be too hard to pass up. Enjoy your read.
It’s a classic epic fantasy adventure in many ways – but there are some interesting twists in there, too.
I have the first book in this series on my TBR but have yet to start it: maybe with Wyrd & Wonder fast approaching I will finally take the plunge… 🙂
That would be a good impetus, Maddalena! I burned through this series as the characterisation is particularly good. And there’s a vigour and freshness to the writing that I loved.
I’ll admit I didn’t care for the first book, so I haven’t continued the series. But it has a lot of fans, and I’m glad you scored a copy of this book😁
Hi there, Sarah! I actually read the first book of this series but it wasn’t my cup of tea, unfortunately. I ran into way more issues than I thought I would. I do hope you’ll have a blast with this one though. Awesome blog, by the way! 🙂
Thank you for swinging by, Lashaan:)). And I completely understand why you wouldn’t necessarily want to continue with the series – Madson is definitely not to everyone’s taste.
Haven’t read any of the series yet, but it definitely sounds action packed. Hope you enjoy it when you read it!
Thank you, Laura – I’m looking forward to it:).
I am so behind! I’ve only read the first book, though I’ve got both books 2 and 3 on the TBR. And until today I thought the series was only going to be a trilogy! Glad there will be more books, though this does mean I better hustle 🙂
Yes… that sort of discovery can be something of a double-edged sword, can’t it:)). I think this next one is destined to wrap everything up, though.
