Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week’s Can’t-Wait offering – AUDIOBOOK Orbs of Wisdom – Book 6 of the Dragon Gate series by Lindsay Buroker – release date – hm… probably end of December 2022/beginning January 2023 (judging by the comparative release dates of the audiobooks to the ebooks in the series).

BLURB: The final installment in the Dragon Gate saga!
With his mother’s life at stake and the entire world threatened by powerful dragons, the sand in the hour glass is running out for Jak Freedar. He and his allies must find the ancient Orbs of Wisdom and hope they hold the solutions to the problems plaguing humanity and the dragons before it’s too late.
I’ve LOVED listening to the first four books in this gripping epic fantasy series featuring Jak and his archaeologist mother, who get snatched by greedy, ambitious mage King Uthari and have been swept up in the amazing adventure that follows. It is chockful of engaging characters who I’ve grown to love, such as Rookie Tezzy and her enchanted axe – as well as some really nasty antagonists I love to hate. I was thrilled to discover that the fifth book, Sky on Fire, is now available as an audiobook and have just finished listening again to the fourth book, Chosen for Power before tucking into it. So I am thoroughly looking forward to the sixth and final book with a familiar mixture of emotions. I’m desperate to know what happens, yet… I don’t want this series to end!
Wow, sounds like it’s going to be an intense read. I hope it’s a fantastic series finale for you!
Thank you, Suzanne – I’m hoping it will be a great finale, too. Although Buroker is good at finishing her series in a thoroughly satisfactory manner:)).
Well, I just had to add all six books to my TBR pile. This sounds like an excellent fantasy read! Thanks for sharing it!
You’re very welcome, Lisa. I just hope you enjoy this series as much as I am:)).
I haven’t read this series yet, but I have enjoyed other of Lindsay Buroker’s books. I am working through her Death Before Dragons series on audio at the moment. I think she has the same narrator for all of her books Vivienne Leheny.
Yes! I haven’t yet had the pleasure of listening to the Death Before Dragons series, yet. I absolutely loved the Star Kingdom series – having a nerd as the main hero worked beautifully. But I am thoroughly enjoying how this series is developing. And you’re right Vivienne Leheny is a wonderful narrator who brings lots of emotion and humour to Buroker’s writing…
Viviene Leheny is such a perfect fit for Lindsay Buroker’s writing style, her narration really ads something. I’ve been waiting for the Star Kingdom series to become available wide, so I can read it, it sounds like a great series.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy the Star Kingdom series, Lola – it’s still my favourite…
This sounds great! I have a few of Lindsay Buroker’s books on my TBR list. Hope you enjoy this finale! 🙂
Thank you, Ashley. I have become a huge fan of her writing – not only is she prolific, I love her ability to spin a cracking plot and develop her characters:).
This sounds like a great series, Sarah. Is it YA? Not that it matters to me, I have enjoyed a lot of YA book.
Hi Carla – no, it isn’t YA. Though one of the main protagonists is a teen – this is more of an epic fantasy with a lot going on. I love her writing and the way she develops new storylines and scenarios from the initial premise.
Thanks Sarah. I will see if my library has this series.
This sounds like an interesting series. I must admit, I read very few series because of the time investment required.
I can understand that – it can be a relief to read a standalone when I know that once the book is done, I don’t have to look for the sequel:)).
Hope it’s a good series ending for you!
Thank you, Laura – I hope so too:)).
