Teaser Tuesday – 16th October, 2018 #Brainfluffbookblog #TeaserTuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by The Purple Booker.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This is my choice of the day:

Soulbinder – Book 4 in the Spellslinger series by Sebastien de Castell

56% Ghilla came and gave me a gentle kick in the shin. ‘We ain’t so bad, boy. You’ll see.’

What do you do in the face of something you’ve never earned but always wanted? I held the bundled shirt with the bones inside it under my arm tightly, as if doing so was somehow an act of resistance against their kindness. It didn’t work though, because after a few moments my traitorous mouth opened, and I said, ‘Take me home.’

BLURB: The fourth book in the page-turning SPELLSLINGER fantasy series.

Perfect for fans of The Dark Tower, Firefly, Guardians of the Galaxy, Terry Pratchett, Ben Aaronovitch and Jim Butcher.

Even grumpy old me can’t rant about that blurb being too much of a spoiler, can I?

I recently read and loved Charmcaster so Himself stumped up and treated me to this one as a belated birthday treat – no wonder I love him so… And once again, I’ve been caught up in Kellen’s adventures full of danger, emotion and humour. This is certainly one of my favourite fantasy series of the year.

  1. I’m loving this series and cant’ wait for more – although in fairness to the author these are coming out thick and fast. I felt like No.4 had something of a different tone to the first. The series is definitely getting darker (or this one felt that way) and I was a bit choked up here and there.
    Lynn 😀

    • Oh yes – it is a LOT darker, isn’t it. Not having that old squirrel cat around for a chunk of time meant that there wasn’t the humour he normally brings to it.

  2. You said this was one of your favorite fantasy series of this year so far. I can see why. My day yesterday (Tues.) was so crazy I never got around to posting a Tuesday Teaser. I will sure try to post one next week, for I love this meme. Thanks Purple Booker, and thanks Sarah for bringing it to my notice!

    • You’re very welcome Rae – and you’ll have noticed that my posting schedule has skittered allll over the place, so I look forward to you being able to take part when you’re able and in the meantime, I hope that Wednesday is turning out to be a whole lot more peaceful.

    • Thank you, Suzanne – and it is fun. But I hope I’ve also made clear that there is also a lot of action, adventure and some high emotion also running through the series, too.
