Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week’s Can’t-Wait offering – Nyxia – Book 1 of The Nyxia Triad series by Scott Reintgen

Emmett Atwater isn’t just leaving Detroit; he’s leaving Earth. Why the Babel Corporation recruited him is a mystery, but the number of zeroes on their contract has him boarding their lightship and hoping to return to Earth with enough money to take care of his family. Forever.
Before long, Emmett discovers that he is one of ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts and are a long way from home. Now each recruit must earn the right to travel down to the planet of Eden – a planet that Babel has kept hidden – where they will mine a substance called Nyxia that has quietly become the most valuable material in the universe.
But Babel’s ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won’t forever compromise what it means to be human.
I’m looking forward to reading this one, having recently been approved by Netgalley to read and review it. I am a sucker for a thrilling adventure in space and I’m hoping that is what this one delivers.
I’ve heard great things about this, I hope you love it. And I love the UK cover, or is that the paperback?
It is the paperback cover published by Platform21, apparently. I went with it because it’s the cover featured on the Netgalley site. I’ve also heard great things about this one, so I’m really looking forward to it.
I think I got this book!! …. Yep, it’s in my queue. I like the UK cover.
Ooo… I look forward to hearing what you think of it, SJ:). Like you, I’m a real sucker for a cracking space opera adventure…
This sounds intriguing! Secrets and troubled pasts. I hope ypu like this one, Sarah. I will have to add it to my wish list. I need more Sci Fi in my life.
We all need more great sci fi in our lives, don’t we? I’m really looking forward to reading it, Wendy.
AWESOME pick, Sarah!! LOVE the concept behind this story! And that cover is just STUNNING. Well, I’m heading over to Goodreads right away to add it! Thanks for sharing!! 🙂
Btw, be sure to check out my SCS post, which I published on Sunday. It’s about one of the covers you featured in your own cover post, and I linked back to that post. Have a great week!! ❤ 🙂
Oh thank you so much, Maria:)). I’m really behind with all my comments as I’ve been away on a writing retreat for the week, which was glorious… I’ll scamper across and check out your SCS post, which I always enjoy anyway.
I nabbed this recently. The series sounds amazing.
It certainly does, doesn’t it? I look forward to hearing what you think of this one, Laura:).
I read this one when it was released in the US, and it’s possible that I was simply too hyped up for it, but I wasn’t blown away. Hope you’ll have better luck with it than I did though! 😀
Ah. I’m looking forward to reading it – and I hope that I really enjoy it more than you did. It would be a boring old world if we were all blown away by the same books, wouldn’t it?
Sounds fun!
It does, doesn’t it, Lisa? So I’m hoping it’s going to be cracking read:).
Ooh I love that cover! I got it out from the library a few weeks ago and it’s been sitting on my rather neglected…I should really get to it–I’ve heard amazing things!
Yes… I’ve got one of those piles of neglected books, too! I look forward to hearing what you make of this one, Kathy:)
