40276268 – vintage old pocket watch and book
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week’s Can’t-Wait offering – Song of Blood & Stone – Book 1 of the Earthsinger Chronicles by L. Penelope
#adventure #fantasy #romance #YA
Orphaned and alone, Jasminda lives in a land where cold whispers of invasion and war linger on the wind. Jasminda herself is an outcast in her homeland of Elsira, where her gift of Earthsong is feared. When ruthless soldiers seek refuge in her isolated cabin, they bring with them a captive–an injured spy who threatens to steal her heart.
I picked this one up because I liked the look of the cover – having all the depth of a pavement puddle – and thought the premise looked interesting. I have cut short the rather chatty blurb and am looking forward to reading this one later on in the month – hopefully when the sun is shining and it stops raining!
Gosh, that’s a beautiful cover! I totally pick books up because of the cover, so you’re not alone at all in that!
That’s a relief – because I find myself confessing over and over again that it was the cover that first drew me – and thinking ‘You are SUCH an airhead!’
I’m planning to read this one in a couple of weeks too. Isn’t that cover just stunning?
It certainly is – I’m looking forward to this one:)
The cover really catches your interest and creates a feeling of mystery. Wondering exactly who this woman is. A great pick!
Yes, the cover definitely nailed it for me:))
This sounds great! Thanks for sharing 🙂
My CWW Pick
You’re welcome – thank you for swinging by:)
Thanks for saving us from spoilers😉 I have seen this book around and heard good things. Hope you enjoy! (And that cover!)
It does look good, doesn’t it? I’m hoping it lives up to that amazing cover:). You’re very welcome regarding the blurting blurb – it seems to be rather a thing, these days…
I’ve wanted to read this one forever. Plus, really shallow observation but I want that lady’s hair!
I know! Isn’t her hair amazing? I’m looking forward to reading this one, too:)
I am LOVING the cover! So eye-catching! It sounds really interesting too. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy! 🙂
Thank you, Ashley:). Yes, the cover is fabulous, isn’t it? I’m really looking forward to this one.
I somehow missed this one, but it’s right up my alley and I found it on NetGalley, so thanks so much for sharing!! 😀
Oh I’m delighted that you have managed to find it:). It looks really promising, doesn’t it?
You cracked me up. I’m the same about covers sometimes. Can I join you in the pavement puddle.
Oh do come and splash about in the shallowest of shallow places with the rest of the covergirls:))
The publisher sent me an ARC of this one and I’m excited to check it out too. This was an SPFBO book as well, I believe! It wasn’t one of the BiblioSanctum’s books, but I remember seeing it one of the other nine blogs’ batches. So happy more SPFBO authors are getting noticed!
Oh yes! Do you know – I’d forgotten that. I think it might have been one of Lynns?
OMG!!!! I LOVE that cover!! It’s absolutely STUNNING!! And the plot is SO AWESOME!!!!! You picked a REAL winner here, Sara!! I’ve already added it to my Goodreads shelves! Looks like I’ll devour it as soon as it releases!! YAAAAAAAASSSS!!!! Thanks for putting this on my galactic radar!!! ❤ ❤
Thanks as well for beaming over to my planet, er, blog, and commenting on my own CWW post!! HUGS!!! <3<3 ❤ 🙂 🙂 🙂
You’re very welcome, Maria – your blog is always an enjoyable visit:))
Awwww…..THANKS!!! Yours is, too!! ❤ ❤ ❤
:)xxx
Ooooo, the puddle is a nice touch in there, depth without interrupting the overall design. I dig it! 🙂
lol… and no depth whatsoever!
Good choice! The cover is nice. The premise sounds interesting. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Laura:). I’m looking forward to tucking into this one.
This was an SPFBO book – not one of mine though (Fantasy Faction). I love the cover and think it might have been entered into the cover competition which is why it seems so familiar. I really do fancy giving this a go and saw it on ‘read now’ over on NG but I have so many books already for May so don’t think I should.
Hope you love it.
Lynn 😀
Thank you, anyway:). I’m thoroughly looking forward to it.
