Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by The Purple Booker.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This is my choice of the day:
Falling Apart – Book 2 of the Otherworlders series by Jane Lovering
3% I am vampire. I am top of the food chain, a mover-in-shadow; desired by women, envied by men. I have the grace of a cat, the sight of an eagle and the speed of a greyhound – so why can’t I find a bloody biro when I want one?
BLURB: Jessica Grant liaises with Otherworlders for York Council so she knows that falling in love with a vampire takes a leap of faith. But her lover Sil, the City Vampire in charge of Otherworld York, he wouldn’t run out on her, would he? He wouldn’t let his demon get the better of him. Or would he?
Sil knows there’s a reason for his bad haircut, worse clothes and the trail of bleeding humans in his wake. If only he could remember exactly what he did before someone finds him and shoots him on sight.
With her loyalties already questioned for defending zombies, the Otherworlders no one cares about, Jess must choose which side she’s on, either help her lover or turn him in. Human or Other? Whatever she decides, there’s a high price to pay and someone to lose.
I loved the first book in the series Vampire State of the Mind and couldn’t believe my luck when I realised that this book, which has been languishing on my TBR for far too long, was the sequel! Funny and engrossing – this is just what the doctor ordered while I’m still in the throes of influenza.
Your teaser was tempting even though the book’s genre is not my favorite. Here’s my Tuesday Teaser from Stephen King’s Song of Susannah, Book VI of the Dark Tower Series (After this one, one book to go):
“Mia flushed, but was able to meet Susannah’s gaze. ‘Each must follow the road upon which ka (fate) has set her feet. Mine is to bear my chap (baby), and raise him, and thus end your dinn’s (teacher/mentor) quest. And his life.'”
Susannah is carrying Mia’s demon baby, and her body is ruled by Mia’s spirit/personality. Susannah already has two personalities inhabiting her mind, and now Mia has taken over the other two. Susannah is a gunslinger of Roland’s ka-tet, whom Mia wishes to destroy and to destroy his quest to save The Dark Tower. It is getting down to the time the baby will come.
Yes… Himself has read this series, but though I’m tempted – I know that King is a really good author – I think it’s a bit dark for me…
Understood.
Fascinating teaser. I hope you are enjoying the book, which probably is not for me because of the little vampire issue…LOL. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Thank you for swinging by Laurel:). It’s lovely we are blogging buddies despite the fact our taste in books doesn’t line up all that often – but then I think all book people tend to be essentially nice:)
Oh, that’s pretty funny! I think because he has all those things (I think it’s a he) that it’s right that he can’t find what he wants! Great teaser! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
Thank you, Louisa – yes it’s a really funny book – though also with a strong, engrossing story too:). I also really enjoyed the Brit setting.
I like the sense of humor to the teaser. I’d read more. In fact adding the first one to my TBR. Love the title.
Oh that’s great:). I’d love to hear your take on it.
I didn’t think you really read vampire books for some reason. This does sound like my perfect read and I love that teaser. I should maybe go track down the first book first.
I do recommend this series:). I don’t like very gory vampire books that slide into horror because of the nightmare factor. But I’m happy to read anything paranormal so long as it isn’t too dark:)
Great teaser! I love vampire books and this has a great cover!
It is also very sharp and funny – both books are:)
I was on the fence about the first book. Now I’m rethinking!
It is great fun:))
